A musical stew of soul-influenced rock seasoned with roots, funk, blues and country, the sounds of The Dirty Guv’nahs always get the crowd dancing. In 2006, The Guvs began when bass player Justin Hoskins offered his “band” to play at a benefit concert. With two weeks to prepare, Hoskins recruited his brother Aaron along with James Trimble and Chris Doody. The Guv’nah, a mutual friend, introduced them to guitarist Michael Jenkins, and the band was created. None of them had played in a band, but something clicked. In 2009, The Guvs played at the Bijou Theatre in Knoxville, and after a near sell-out show, they were invited to perform at Bonnaroo. They played two sets wowing industry insiders, one of whom sent tracks to Justin Guip, two-time Grammy-winner. Guip produced Youth Is In Our Blood, The Guvs’ newest album, at Levon Helm’s studio in Woodstock, N.Y. With a shack-shaking live show and a growing legion of fans, The Dirty Guv’nahs are poised to find their rightful place in the world.
